HAR – KI- DOON (3566m)
Located in the western range of Uttarakhand, it is the view point for the glittering snow capped peaks – Banderpoonch to Swerg Rohini. This area has the best Pine and Deodar forest in all of Asia and is full of rich wildlife and is a paradise for nature lovers.
Drivng from Mussorie to Sankri, Kampty falls and the Yamuna River, you will be visiting remote historical and cultural places of Jounsar-Bawar, Rawal, Jounpur and the legendry and mythological temples of Lakhmandal (the exile of Pandavas) with ancient sculptures from the 8th century A.D. and the Mahasudevta temple of Netwar.
At Taluka Village, compared to the norm all over India where Duryodhana is taken as anti-hero the people of this village worship Duryodhana. From there to Osla and then to Har–Ki-Doon the trek is through terraced mountain fields, lush green grassy land and the coniferous forest leading to the wonderful multi-coloured flower-decked meadows of Har-Ki-Doon.
